As a part of the long term contract that WISE SECURITY holds with The Royal Borough of Greenwich the Company is delighted to be the sole provider of all Safety Stewards and Security staff to the TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL 2017. This is now the second time that WSSL have supplied all staff to the Tall Ships events that take place at The Old Royal Naval College, New Capital Quay, Cutty Sark Gardens and Woolwich Arsenal.
Over half a million people visited the event this year during the fours days it took place in April. Not only did they experience first hand the largest gathering of Tall Ships in the UK this year but they enjoyed the many side shows and entertainment arranged by RBG for both young and old alike. Food outlets offered the most diverse range of culinary delights from around the world and a huge Fireworks Spectacular wowed the thousands of visitors that stayed late into the night and could be seen for miles up and down the Thames and surrounding areas.
WISE SECURITY SUPPLIED in excess of 200 staff to ensure all that attended enjoyed a safe and enjoyable experience, many of these staff had specialist waterside working training. The actual event took place over a four day period but the WSSL staff were there two days in advance for the load in and supplied guards for a further two days after to provide security during the load out.

Likewise a special team were deployed to work with the Thames Clipper service to ensure safe access and egress to the piers where the craft dock. In addition to the manned Guarding, Crowd Management and general Safety staffing WISE deployed a mobile CCTV unit which with its thirty foot pole enabled our control room staff to monitor even the most out of way places on the site.
The Mayor of Greenwich, dignitaries and a number of VIP visitors mingled with the crowds and joined with them in enjoying this spectacular event.
The event has been hailed as a huge success and is in no small part due to the meticulous planning of the Safety Advisory Group that met several times in the build up to the event and was supported by advice and input from our most knowledgable MD JAMES WISE.
