We recently held our Annual Supervisors Meeting, bringing together our lead team for a focused day of training, development, and collaboration. The session was designed to reinforce the standards we expect across all venues and equip our supervisors with the tools and confidence to lead effectively.

The day covered a wide range of essential topics, including:

The importance of reading and following instructions to avoid costly errors

Key responsibilities such as briefing staff, monitoring performance, and managing underperformance

The need for accurate documentation, including timesheets, registers, and incident reports

Practical training in fire extinguisher use, covering both theoretical knowledge and hands-on demonstrations

SCaN (See, Check and Notify) training, aimed at improving situational awareness, identifying suspicious behaviour, and knowing how to respond appropriately in customer-facing roles

James Wise, Managing Director, shared his insights on the day:

“This meeting was a fantastic opportunity to invest in our people. It was well received and highlighted the commitment our supervisors have to maintaining high standards. We’re focused on making our staff better – more confident, more capable, and more consistent in delivering excellent service. That’s how we expand as a team and as a business.”

As we move forward, we remain committed to developing our teams, supporting our supervisors, and ensuring that every member of staff leads by example. The Supervisors Meeting was a strong reminder that great leadership starts with preparation, communication, and pride in the role.

A Royal Visit to Battersea Power Station: A Day to Remember

On Thursday, 12th December, Battersea Power Station played host to a truly memorable event, welcoming two very distinguished guests.

King Charles III graced the iconic venue with his presence, creating a moment of celebration and excitement. His arrival was marked by the harmonious voices of a choir, setting a festive tone as he stepped into Turbine Hall A. Inside, the King explored the Curated Makers Christmas Market, engaging warmly with the public and soaking up the holiday spirit.

The day became even more notable with the presence of Apple CEO Tim Cook, who joined the King during a visit to Apple’s headquarters within the power station. Together, they interacted with guests, adding to the significance of the occasion.

The visit concluded with a delightful touch of creativity and community spirit. King Charles unveiled children’s Christmas drawings, which were beautifully projected onto the power station, adding a festive glow to the historic building.

Wise Security: Behind the Scenes of a Seamless Event

At Wise Security, we were proud to play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this royal visit. Working closely with Battersea Power Station and various stakeholders, our team developed a comprehensive security plan to ensure the event proceeded smoothly and with minimal disruption to local residents and businesses.

From coordinating the King’s arrival and movements throughout the venue to overseeing the day’s final performance by RAYO, our meticulous planning and collaboration were key to the seamless execution of the event.

This isn’t the first time Wise Security has supported such prestigious occasions. In 2022, we facilitated security for a royal visit by Prince William and Princess Catherine to the Copper Box Arena for a charity event.

At Wise Security, we take pride in delivering top-tier security solutions for events of all scales, ensuring safety, efficiency, and a memorable experience for all involved.

What once was the London 2012 Olympic Broadcast and Press Centre, now hosts events and businesses that would never be foreseen after the Olympic Games.

Wise Security are proud and excited to join this adventure, becoming the site’s go to Event Security provider.

Here East has recently paid host to a number of unique events, with speeches from the Prime Minister, to leading edge eSports visits from EA with the ePremier League and eChampions League.

Recently, the venue hosted EA for their Apex Legends Global Series, with the events main stage being held at the Copper Box Arena and all technical and background data operations taking place at Here East. As lead supplier for events at both venues, this is a partnership that is sure to blossom in the future.

Following a recent eSports event, our Event Manager, Mohamed Ahmed, had this to say, “Here East is an incredible venue with such a unique vibe to it. You are always meeting new and innovative people around the campus. Our team have been managing access control for a high profile eSports event which has been a great success and we are looking forward to working alongside the Here East Security team in the future.”

As the year comes to a close, we want to take a look back on the amazing year we have had at Wise Security Serviced Limited. Highlighting some of our key achievements and breaking down some of our accomplishments into neat stats! We hope you enjoy!

Wise Security oversaw a number of historic events, including the below:

England Women’s EURO Final Victory

Track Cycling at the Commonwealth Games

Queen’s Lying in State

Royal Ascot

The London Marathon

The Boat Race

Ride London

The Summertime Ball

UCI Track Cycling Champions League

6 Nights of Coldplay

The above does not even scratch the surface of the amazing experiences we have been a part of. Football is always a major draw for events, and this is the same for 2022. Wise Security assisted with over 140 Football matches, ranging from UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Championship and various Domestic Cup fixtures.

Notably we also supplied staff to Wembley Stadium on 35 occasions (all events at Wembley), including England’s epic Women’s UEFA European Championship victory, as well as 6 nights of Coldplay at the Summertime Ball.

The numbers don’t lie when it comes to how busy we have been, Wise Security have had over 35,000 staffing deployments, an incredible achievement bouncing back from COVID 19. That means on average, Wise Security had nearly 100 staff deployed every day.

2022’s most unique event was unfortunately a very sombre occasion. Following the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Wise Security were contracted to assist with Operation Bridges, a security plan that would take place on the passing of the Head of State.

Specifically, Wise Security played a major role in Operation Feather, this was the management of “The Queue”. Many of you will have seen the queue that culminated at the Victoria Tower Gardens, where a 3km Disney Queue (or “The Snake as it was dubbed by many”) traversed through the gardens on the final approach to Westminster Palace.

It was a great honour for Wise Security and all of our team to assist at such a historic event.

Looking back on 2022, we at Wise Security are proud of what we have achieved and are looking forward to an even bigger and better 2023. Bring it on!

Operation Feather was the process for managing the Queen’s Lying in State, this involved “The Queue” ending at Westminster Palace where the Queen’s laid in her coffin, and starting around 7 miles away in Southwark Park.

Wise Security Services managed The Queue in Victoria Tower Gardens, just to the south of Westminster Palace, and the last section of the queue. Wise Security were also responsible for the security of the park.

Wise Security Operations Manager, Daniel Frost, was personally on site through the 5 days of entry to the Palace and had this to say, “Managing the queue, in the view of Westminster Palace, was something I will never forget. Five long days with unique challenges, but one constant, incredible people who waited and endured to pay their last respects to Queen Elizabeth II. Escorting the first few people in the queue to the Palace was an emotional moment. Our team performed throughout the duration of our stay in Victoria Tower Gardens, and were all so pleased to have served and worked on such a historic event.”

Wise Security Services also received fantastic feedback from clients and public with regards to helping and assisting those who needed it on the last few hours of their historic journey in The Queue. One of those who queued left us some fantastic feedback:

“I would like to say thank you to the amazing team you supplied to assist with the queue to visit Her late Majesty’s coffin at Westminster Palace last week. I had been queuing for 10.5 hours on Friday when I received a message from my blind friend (who had been in the accessible queue) that he would like to visit the HM. At 3.30 pm I asked Joshua in the grounds of Westminster gardens if I could be united with my blind friend to enter the Hall together. Joshua spent the next 30 minutes communicating with his boss and walking with me until I located my blind friend and his dog.”

After over a quarter for a million people had passed our gates, we move on with a new head of state, King Charles III.

As the retail sector emerged from lockdown, it became clear to see that many factors would need to be considered with regards to the reopening of shops, restaurants, and shopping centres. Considering the need for one-way systems, additional PPE, additional cleaning services and who would be there to manage those who first ventured out to these shopping and retail destinations.

Since “re-opening”, Wise Security has been working and assisting Bluewater Shopping Centre in providing a safe environment for people to shop, eat, drink and browse at their leisure.

Already being a long-term client helped massively with integrating our staff to work in this capacity, with many guards having a vast knowledge of the centre all ready. And with many more additional staff coming on board to assist with this complex operation, we have been grateful for the opportunity provided during what seemed like bleak times.

Bluewater leant on our expertise with regards to crowd flow and queueing systems to assist them for a re-opening that no one could have ever foreseen, a true “into the unknown” moment that we are all glad has been going tremendously well.

Bluewater’s success, along with our hard work, was even mentioned during debate in the House of Commons, being discussed by Dartford MP Gareth Johnson and Treasury Secretary Jesse Norman. During an urgent question on the economy, Gareth Johnson said: “Bluewater, in my Dartford constituency, reopened its doors yesterday and did so in a cautious and responsible manner.” And “Does the Minister agree with me that centres like Bluewater should be praised, not only for getting our economy on track but allowing us to get back to some form of normality?”

In response the Secretary to the Treasury, the Right Honourable Jesse Norman MP said: “I absolutely do think that” and “Congratulations to Bluewater to the extent they have done that”

As of late, with the introduction of new laws regarding the wearing of face coverings and the “Rule of 6”, we have been tasked with assisting the centre in tackling these new rules and enforcing where possible. We have also overseen the introduction of Track and Trace within the centres seating and eating areas.

Ray Francis, one of our Senior Management, has been on site throughout this period and had this to say, “Working at Bluewater has been great additional work for many of our staff. We have seen many staff shine and show great customer service skills as well as great teamwork throughout this period. Working with the Bluewater team has been seamless thanks to our long term relationship and we look forward to continuing this going forward.”

Although we are far from normality, we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Bluewater and continuing our support for the shopping centre for the times to come.
