Derby Day at the Den

Date Posted | 02/10/2026

It was a huge day at The Den as Wise Security supported Millwall for one of English football’s most anticipated fixtures, as Millwall welcomed West Ham United to South East London.

The fixture on Saturday 19 September marked the first competitive meeting between the two sides since 2012 and the 100th competitive meeting between the clubs, adding another chapter to one of London football’s most historic rivalries.

With so much history between the two clubs, there was a huge sense of anticipation throughout the build-up to the match.

The Den was packed, the atmosphere was intense and both sets of supporters brought plenty of noise and passion to what was a highly anticipated return. The fixture ultimately produced an entertaining 2-2 draw, with Millwall taking a two-goal lead before West Ham fought back in the second half.

Over 300 Wise Security Staff Supporting the Day

While the action on the pitch understandably takes centre stage, delivering a successful matchday operation requires a huge amount of work behind the scenes.

Over 300 members of the Wise Security team were deployed at The Den, working across a wide range of roles to support the smooth and safe running of the fixture.

Our teams were involved across:

Car park operations
Hospitality
Stewarding
Security
Turnstiles and entry points
Crowd management
Stadium operations
General matchday support

From the early stages of the day through to the final whistle and beyond, our staff worked across the stadium to help create a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for supporters, players, staff and visitors.

With a large team spread across so many different areas, communication, coordination and teamwork were essential. Each role contributed to the wider operation, with our staff working alongside the wider Millwall matchday team throughout the day.

A Huge Team Effort

The successful delivery of a fixture of this scale doesn’t happen by accident. It relies on planning, preparation and hundreds of people working together, and we’re incredibly proud of the contribution made by our team.

James Wise, Managing Director at Wise Security, said: “I’m really proud of the team and the hard work that went into the day. The preparation and planning from everyone involved was excellent and played a huge part in delivering a great matchday operation.”

From our car park and hospitality teams to our stewards and security professionals, every member of the 300+ strong Wise Security team had an important role to play.

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who worked at The Den. Your professionalism, commitment and teamwork were evident throughout the day and helped contribute to the successful delivery of a major London football fixture.

We’re proud to support Millwall and the team at The Den, and we look forward to continuing our work throughout the season.

Well done, Team Wise.
