Wise keeps Cycling World Championships on track

Two years ago British Cycling identified Wise Security Services as the number one security choice for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
Some of the most high-profile cyclists in the world were in action at the event, which was taking place at the amazing Lee Valley Velopark.
Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Laura Trott came and conquered at the Championship and Wise Security were pleased to have been on hand to witness the cycling and conquer all of the off-track activities from a crowd management and security point of view.
Over the five days we successfully oversaw 12 packed sessions with an overall attendance for the duration of the competition of more than 56,000 visitors.
In addition to our normal duties for a major event like this, such as ticket scanning, searching, seating stewards, car park marshals, we were also tasked with implementing and overseeing some specialist tasks, including;
Last mile stewards located in strategic positions in order to direct public on the correct route to the venue, as well as assisting at crossing points and providing public with general information of the area.
Controlled air lock personnel specially trained to operate the air lock systems that ultimately played a huge part in ensuring the venue was kept to the necessary track temperature
Track centre accreditation – a complex system managed by our staff that entailed a barcoded pass with photo recognition laptops.
As ever, Wise Security Services staff quickly formed strong working relationships with senior representatives involved with the operation and were heavily praised for their role throughout the duration of this prestigious championship.
The Lee Valley Velopark general manager had this to say: “I am very proud, impressed, while not surprised. You have been amazing and I knew we would do it. I appreciate everything everyone has done.”
